Up until 2017, the only ways to get around Bermuda were by taxi, moped rental, or the public bus system. According to, in 2017 “some local laws were relaxed at the insistence of the America’s Cup event held in Bermuda.” Because of these recent changes, tourists can now rent two-seater electric vehicles like the Twizy. These electric cars are a relatively new option. Electric Two-Seater Cars (like the Twizy) This was by far the most common way that we saw other tourists getting around while we were in Bermuda. This might be a good option if you don’t plan on moving around a lot during your trip. We did use a taxi a few times, and the rates were fairly reasonable. We’ve heard that the public bus system in Bermuda is very reliable and easy to use, although we did not use it at all during our trip. So what are the options for getting around? Public Bus System These laws help to prevent overcrowding on the roads of this small island. From speaking with some of the locals, we actually found out that each household in Bermuda is strictly limited to one car (although I believe they can have a moped as well).
